Iona College new Aluminum Roller Grilles

Ezi-roll was trusted by Tomkins Commercial to provide the roller shutters for the new sports centre at Iona College.

Requirements

Ezi-roll and Tomkins Commercial have a long standing working relationship and both companies eagerly partnered to work together on this major project at Iona College to build a multipurpose 2,500 seat sporting and events facility.

Approach

As part of stage one of the project Ezi-roll manufactured and installed two Ezi 19 Aluminum Roller Grilles in the powder coat Night Sky colour to secure the external access to the school. Both roller grilles were constructed from 19mm aluminum extrusion tubing connected with 35mm links creating a symmetrical brick-like pattern. There were two roller grilles required, one at 2,700mm x 5,100mm and one at 4,000mm x 7,100mm.

These cost efficient grilles were ideal for Iona College’s requiremen

t of ventilation with a high level of security.

Stage two of the project saw Ezi-roll manufacture and install eight Ezi 65 Aluminum Roller Shutter in the following powder coat colours:

• APO Grey
• Wedgewood
• Notre Dame
• Night Sky
• Paperbark
• Intensity Desert
• Electric Gold Pearl
• Purple Gloss

The design of these shutters were specially considered by the college, with the shutter colours matching the retractable and fixed seating where they were located providing an aesthetically pleasing result. These colours provided a challenge as they were not standard colours, however, Ezi-roll rose to the challenge and were able to deliver this unique request.

Each shutter was 2,700mm x 3,600mm.  This style of flat slat shutter was chosen for its attractive contemporary appearance without compromising door security.

Outcome

Ezi-roll delivered an exceptional and vibrant finish on the Ezi 65 Shutters that were chosen due to their innovative flat sleek design. The Ezi 19 Aluminum Roller Grilles met the client’s needs through their strong aluminum curtain that is specifically designed from aluminum extrusion to provide a high level of security while maintaining the feel of openness between external spaces.
