Requirements

McNab had no hesitation in partnering with Ezi-roll for this expansive 55,000m2 project; forming a strong working partnership in order to meet the project deliverables. Located in Brisbane’s up and coming Western corridor, Richlands, this project was purposely designed and built for the property group, Dexus. The project would be constructed over two stages. Stage One; a 35,000m2 building completed in September 2020. Offering a two storey office space and warehouse. The complex features space for three different tenancies within its premises. The warehouse required forty-two steel rolling shutter doors to service the loading docks.

Twenty-five shutters were installed in stage one, stage two which is set to be completed in 2021, will see another seventeen shutters installed.

The architects on site specified industrial galvanised steel shutters, powder coated on one side with a motor and manual chain override. Despite the restrictive side room, Ezi-roll was able to accommodate for the motors easily.

Approach

Ezi-roll manufactured and installed Ezi-115 Steel roller shutters, powder coated in COLORBOND® Monument of various sizes:

  • Sixteen doors at 5000H X 6000W.
  • Eight doors at 5000H X 3800W.
  • One door at 2400H X 3000W.

All roller shutters were supplied in 0.8mm gauge steel with Ezi-roll’s patented windlock system to provide unparalleled wind resilience. The innovative system comprises of windlocked slats creating a market leading product that exceeds Australian wind load standards as set out in AS/NZS1170.2:2011.

The Ezi-roll Steel rolling shutter combines high quality performance with function; the installed product not only match the industrial building’s modern aesthetics but provides via the windlock system, superior protection against extreme weather conditions and added security from intruders.

Outcome

Ezi-roll beholds a strong safety culture by conducting regular internal training to maintain onsite safe work practices. Installation of the Ezi-115 steel shutters was completed in an efficient and safe manner with no interruption to McNab’s building process.

McNab’s contract administrator Mr Alex Hockey was pleased to award the second stage of the project to Ezi-roll, stating; “Ezi-roll have been a long term partner with McNab and once again the partnership functioned the successful delivery of this Industrial facility for Dexus. Ezi-roll made it easy for McNab and were flexible and accommodating to the tight program and delivered a quality product once again, defect free.” Ezi-roll was pleased to contribute to McNab’s promise of genuinely caring, making it easy and deliver certainty whilst getting things right the first time.

Ezi-roll is delighted to continue alongside McNab to complete stage two of the Freeman Central Logistics Hub by 2021. Providing the highest quality, service and innovative Australian Made industrial door products to all their clients.
